Hmm... I think that many times I have problem to submit a Buildings pictures.. I cannot decide whether they are objects or places. Or parts of buildings.. such as windows and doors or stairs.
Plants : Flowers, Trees, Grass and macro ? Macro category is way too general.. you can make a macro of almost anything.. maybe adding Macro into each category? Animals: adding such as type of animals is a great idea by ~Fobtrix-Stock Household items, maybe divide into : Kitchen, Living room, Bathroom, Dining room, Corridor (or Hall) .. hmm.
Holy crap! The entire category needs a revamp! Way more categories and less guessing as to what a deviation goes in. I would have to sit down with the current list, think about my own stock account, then create what I think would be good categories and subcats.
For Tutorials, I would love some kind of "general" or "drawing" category for those tutorials that can apply to both digital and traditional art. ie, for tutorials on anatomy, colour theory, composition (which can also be used for photography too, I suppose), etc. that can be used for everything from pencil sketches to 3D models. I know there's a "miscellaneous" category, but it feels like those types of things don't really belong there, and generally can't be found there anyway.
I had a poll similar to this at my group #PremadeBackgrounds A lot of people wanted a separate category for premade backgrounds. I have submitted many premades myself and always have a hard time fitting them into places and nature. I have over 1200 premades submitted to my group and while some of them are tricky to place in a folder, most of them fit easily into the categories I have set up. Take a look if you are interested
Thanks for asking for input by the way, it's really appreciated by the stock community to be included in such a way
I'd like to see a recourse gallery for 2D video game graphics. Pretty much the Digital Art>Pixel Art gallery, but others can use the deviations for the games they're developing. For example, if this deviation was free for others to use: [link] . I don't know if it'd be useful to many people, but I'd find it helpful at least.
Also, there are a lot of people who like to color sketches and line art by other people. It would be nice to have a gallery for black and white deviations available for others to color.
I would love to see Nature moved under Places. Most of the miscats in Places are Nature. It would also be nice to see Nature broken up into Landscapes, Waterscapes, Skyscapes, Misc. (or something like that). A category under places specifically for cemeteries would be awesome, I swear 50% of the deviations are cemeteries.
Renaming Classical to Vintage Photos might cut back on the confusion about that category a bit.
Would love to see brushes placed in subcategories for the versions of PS and other programs they're compatible with. It's heartbreaking to find a great brush set and download it only to realize it's not compatible. Not all providers label which version they're created in. Would also love to see an historical subcategory in model stock to quickly find those medieval-themed models and costumes quicker.
Brushes is one Ive not thought of before! Thats certainly worth a look at. It was suggested they be sorted by type (nature/grunge/ect) but I think by version would probably work a whole lot better. I agree, it is downright anoying to download a set thats just perfect, only to have the lovely photoshop popup telling you the brush is not compatible with your version.
As much as Id LOVE model subcats based on clothing theme, I fear it would be too much to take on. If we had Historical, then it would open the floodgates to why we dont have Fantasy, Rave, Casual, Gowns... You get the idea Perhaps it would be better to educate people on the importance of using keywords so stock users can simply search for "medieval" and they'd get what they needed
I hadn't thought of that, and you're right. It would be a nightmare to sort everything by clothing subcats, and I think a series of news features on the use of appropriate keywords would be a wonderful thing and proably address the issue with a lot less headaches going around.
3D stuff should have it's own section and sub-sections
I would like to see the nature sections and places sections broken up more into sub-sections. There are so many stock images that it takes a long time to look through, and eventually one just chooses what is close enough. So places should be broken up into seascapes, mountainscapes, plains, city, etc etc for example. Same with nature.
Places is already broken into Exterior/Interior, inside that you should be able to narrow it down with keyword searches
3D has been suggested alot, and it's certainty on my list
I was thinking nature should be broken into Waterscapes/Landscapes/Skies/Fire Ive tried breaking it down further in the folders in the stock group I run, but adding Fields/Plains/Mountains tends to confuse people further. So long as keywords are used properly there shouldn't be an issue finding Mountains within Landscapes. We definitely need some division in Nature.
